Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP)

Dr. Hagelin is the international president of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace, founded in 2005 as an organization of leading scientists dedicated to nuclear disarmament and evidence-based solutions to crime, terrorism and social conflict.

Dr. Hagelin’s research has conclusively demonstrated that large groups of meditating, peace-creating experts can effectively defuse acute societal stress—thereby preventing violence and social conflict, averting terrorism and war, and providing a practical foundation for permanent world peace.

In 2017, GUSP held an emergency Global Peace Summit in Kyiv, Ukraine, attended by over 600 governmental, academic, and public policy leaders to explore these field-tested approaches to peace.

In September 2024, Dr. Hagelin gave the keynote presentation at the summative panel of the 19th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, held in Monterrey, Mexico, and attended by 15 Peace Laureates and over 1,500 global peace leaders, activists, and students. Here he described the field-tested, cost-effective GUSP approach to peace as a proven solution to the problems of violence, war, and societal conflict. For more information, visit.
